Says Who?: A Kinder, Funner Usage Guide for Everyone Who Cares About Words by Anne Curzan

5.0

This is a really good look at word usage and grammar that comes from somebody who loves the language but realizes that good language usage isn't the same as following every rule that has been dreamed up over the centuries (and, surprisingly often, over the last century or so, despite claims by some advocates of those rules that English has always been thus).

It is rare that I get to the end of a non-fiction book and find myself wishing it were longer and this has me wondering if I can find other accessible work of the author (besides the podcast of the short radio show that comes out each week, which I was already a fan of and regular listener to).

I also appreciated having a label for my wordie side. Language is too useful and wonderful to let humorless pedants fossilize it: embrace the life of a living language!
