I read this book because of its lauded place in modern literature, but ... a man wakes up to discover he has been transformed into an insect? Not much analysis seems required to predict the social commentary in store. And surely not much of a character for the reader to invest in.

How wrong I was. This little book is genius (which I assumed it must be), and it cracked my heart (which I did not expect in the slightest).
