Unravel Me by Becka Mack
3.0
If I have to hear the words “Carter is a DILF” anytime before I die again, it will be too soon.
Look, I wanted to love this book. I really, really wanted to. Even though single mother/father is not necessarily my favourite trope, for my boy Adam, I was ready to go through this. And don’t get me wrong, children was not what made me SUFFER through most of this book. Neither was the “hidden identity trope” added just for the angst purposes we all knew was coming (it was annoying as fuck though).
But what made Unravel Me really really REALLY unbearable? The sickeningly sweet and sappy internal (and, for Christ’s sake, external too) monologues made me want to tear the paint off my walls. And not in a good way. I know Becca Mack is great at writing men who are the absolute worst simps for their women, and I usually love it, but this? This was too much.
Not only from Adam’s side, but Carter’s too.
How many times can you mention DILF shirts/caps/scrapbooks/fuck knows what else before it gets boring and nauseating? Idk but somehow this book did it
I was considering this to be a 2 ⭐️ read but Jaxon and Mittens saved the day. However, istg, if he’s going to be such a sap in his book… I will throw hands.
