Until You by Catharina Maura
2.5
This is the second book I’m reading by this author (I started with Bittersweet Memories) and something I’m noticing is that she’s a fan of emotional drama. I am not a fan of emotional drama.
Let me be clear, I can definitely enjoy drama and I often thrive on it, but not when it feels forced or orchestrated just for the sake of it being there. The last almost 200 pages of the book felt like that to me. I understand hearing your mother say those things to you could really mess with your head, but to the extent it did with him I just found myself getting extremely frustrated. There were reactions and conversations in this book that just didn’t feel probable to me and like I said earlier very forced.
Maybe I just have a problem with the writing style because I feel like it would have been better if some things had been tightened up throughout the book. As much as I take issue with those things I did really enjoy the book but I don’t know if I’m going to finish the rest of the series yet.
