4.0
4.5/5 Stars: ‘Sweet Home’ by Youngchan Hwang.
→ Age Range: Adult.
→ Genre: Manhwa, Fantasy Horror.
→ Trigger Warnings: Body Horror, Suicidal Tendencies, Attempted Rape.
In-depth Rating:
→ Plot: ★★★★★
→ Character Development: ★★★★★
→ Setting: ★★★★★
→ Entertainment Level: ★★★★★
→ Writing: ★★★★★
General Comments: An apocalyptic allegory. Grotesque and claustrophobic in nature; soaked in enough gore to paint the walls of the dilapidated apartment complex – the setting – red. An eclectic and eccentric mix of personalities, combined with differing micro-stories, powers the plot, emphasising the theme of survival, when all that is left is despair. The action is superb, and the drama is endearing.
Favourite Quote: ‘Even the blackest darkness disappears in the faintest light.’
Time Read: Two Day.
