Intensity by Dean Koontz
4.0
In Intensity, Dean Koontz goes from zero to sixty & doesn’t let up, whether it’s an action scene or racing thoughts from the minds of two crazy ass people...it just doesn’t let up, creating an extremely intense experience. I had to listen to this in small doses at certain points. He definitely succeeded in creating an unsettling atmosphere. Unfortunately, in order for him to keep that pace up, we are stuck in the minds of these two and there’s a ton of unnecessary inner dialogue that I could’ve done without. There’s so many problems with the book, if you try to read, rate & review it like a traditional thriller, it will most definitely fall short. However, if you take it for what is, straight-up pulp fiction, with a cat-and-mouse plot between a Final Girl protagonist and a sadistic serial killer...(you literary have to throw out all the rules of what should work)...you might find yourself having fun with it like I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
