The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
4.0
Adventurous, propulsive, stylish ...The Lincoln Highway took me on a voyage I'm not soon to forget. This 1950's road trip adventure takes place over a span of 10 days and is told in multiple points of view. As it comes in at nearly 600 pages, we as readers really get to dive deep into these characters. I was intimidated at first, I admit. Being a slower reader, I'm always a bit reluctant about delving into longer books, but I found myself looking forward to picking it up every day. I'm a sucker for a great coming-of-age tale, so riding along with a group of boys on an epic odyssey was such a treat. Each character was written richly and with such detail that they came to life in a way I haven't experienced in quite some time. I enjoyed the Greek mythology and American history that was sprinkled throughout the story as well. It made for stylish and perhaps (delightfully) even slightly quirky storytelling. This was a unique and timeless book that I am so happy I picked up.
