Little Moons by Jen Storm
3.5
Little Moons by Jen Storm, Ryan Howe, and Alice RL [Highwater Press #gifted]
Little Moons is an emotional graphic novel about a young Ojibwe girl who is left to deal with her missing sister. Highlighting the issue of MMIWG2S (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirits), Little Moons is a story of how grief and trauma can also affect the families in different ways. Reanna finds herself not understanding her mother's way of dealing with her grief, and tries to find comfort in her family's Ojibwe traditions. Throughout the story, her younger brother finds himself interacting with an unseen entity, represented by little moons. While missing, her sister's presence is still there as the family continues to remember and honour her memory.
