L'ho amato.
EN | This book has kept me company for the last 6 months. It has been my refuge whenever I was looking for a relaxing read, an old-fashioned fantasy, a little (so to speak, given that it consists of 633 pages) comfort. The source material - the fairy tale of the six wild swans - is treated with intelligence and mastery and the author has grasped the ideas without betraying the origins of the story and at the same time without remaining stuck in the rigid and somewhat sterile structure of the fairy tale. It has points that we readers of 2024 certainly interpret as flaws(the protagonist suffers a bit from the "I'm not like the other girls" syndrome, the villain is the classic megalomaniac who loves monologues, the love story is immediately understood, the female characters lack a little agency) , but the slightly dated tòpoi still don't affect its beauty, in my opinion. I loved it.
