I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman
4.0
This book I could not stop listen too. I usually find YA contemporary hard to inspire me to read this genre and usually have to find a quirky one to do so. As I have also made a goal to read more than on Inky nominated book this set the challenge for this book. I enjoyed the issues like resilience, mental illness, friendships/relationships in the age of social media and coming of age. Each of the main and sub characters had both a deep realistic character development, as well has exploring a 1-D mask/shield to the world of social media/ fame and how it is created and maintained in an online world. It didn't finish as I thought it would which was refreshing and nor was the story conclusion rushed at the end. I did find it started a bit slow for me to get to the main meeting of the two main characters but I understand why it was done that way as the development and growth of Angel would have been lost otherwise. This book is really worth the read or listen to even if it is a genre you normal shy way from.
