Angels & demons & lesbians - oh my!

3.5 stars for this lovely little fantasy-paranormal-noir-sapphic short story.

Paced and written well, this is the story of Edith (an exiled warlock turned supernatural PI) and her last case before the devil cashes in on their deal for her soul. She’s given a chance to win back her soul and stay with her very serious but semi secret (because it’s the 1940s) girlfriend. The story is engaging & you get just the right amount of world building, plus the choice to acknowledge the real life challenges of lgbtq+ communities in this time period was well done. but many of the characters weren’t fleshed out enough & I think the resolution to every problem came a bit too easily.
