The Ground Breaking: An American City and Its Search for Justice by Scott Ellsworth
Did not finish book. Stopped at 60%.
The first couple chapters of this were good and interesting because they actually focused on the massacre and the black community, but then it went downhill from there. The author centered himself entirely too much. As a white author writing black history, it felt a bit gross that this felt like a memoir of sorts. Also it’s boring so that didn’t help. Once I realized that nothing more was going to happen, I couldn’t go on.
