It has a lot of potential going on but lost the plot towards the tail end. 

I enjoyed the academia aspects of it and I always enjoy books about the elite and the bad things they’re up to. The buildup and unfolding of the drama was good though I’m quite disappointed at how it all panned out, especially because some of the plot points didn’t even serve its full purpose or potential.

The ending in which we find the out the murderer was genuinely not appealing and felt like such a cop out ending.

The fact that there wasn’t even a legitimate reason for Skyler’s death other than he cheated on Bernie feels like such a cop out. And to think all this amounted to just an “accident”? Nah.

It was still a good book overall, but be prepared to be disappointed at the end.
