The Searcher by Tana French

3.0

This reminded me of my favorite Tana French book, Faithful Place, because of the narrator. It made me realize why I like her books so much--it is because of her wonderful male characters, flawed but caring, strong, smart, feminist men. They are characters to bring back your faith in men. I wasn't sure I was going to like this one, because the atmosphere was so menacing in the beginning. But ultimately I really enjoyed it. I love that she brings police brutality, and glbtq issues into this one. I love the relationships between the characters. I loved the requisite Tana French twist. This is the author at her least bleak, nearly hopeful.
