Lucy is a disorganised daydreamer who decided to move from her small hometown to London to work for her brothers childhood best friend Felix, who is now a very successful cutthroat billionaire. Lucy isn't doing this because she needs the money. She's doing it because she suffers with anxiety and wants to better her people skills for... reasons. Felix regrets hiring Lucy because 1. He can't stop seeing her as more than his best friends little sister now and 2. She is awful at her job, so he does what he can to "help" her improve, but unfortunately, that all backfires on him big time.
This is my first book by this author, and overall, I enjoyed it. There was some good humour and banter, and the spice was good. However, i did struggle with how inept/helpless Lucy the FMC was. There is being a daydreamer and a bit of a clutz, etc, and then there is Lucy, we are meant to believe that she is wildly successful in one aspect but totally incapable and nieve in others. Felix is frankly a douche the entire first half of this book, but he is meant to be, we are meant to see him be selfish and dismissive as that amongst other things is the catalyst for his character to change, grovel & grow through the second half of the book, and had that second half not been done as well as it was this would've been a much lower star rating from me.
The side characters were interesting and I liked them, I'm especially intrigued to see how this author writes Vicky's character going forward as we have been told she is autistic and we saw some of that in this book, however the representation came across a little stereotypical to me here and I'm hoping going forward that will be improved upon as I personally am sick of seeing neurodivergent characters depicted in a rain man kinda way. For my first experience with this author, I was entertained and will give the next book in this series a go.
