Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear by Robin Wasley

5.0

An American Korean teen from an interracial family struggles through zombies and a magic apocalypse in her small town. This book stands out to me particularly for it's themes of found family, love (familial, romantic, friends), and dealing with grief, trauma, and loss in a very real way. The quirky and fun personality of the main character turns this horror novel into a fun and humorous read, despite the hard topics it's covering along the way. Highly recommended!
