This book sums up why I rarely read contemporary romance anymore. Everything feels forced; the premise, the angst, the humour, the conflict and the feelings. The writing is fine, this genre just hardly ever works for me anymore. I think I’ve just read too much of it and now I’m all ‘this again?!’

Also narcissistic, gaslighting parents trigger me. I have my own set, I don’t want to read about them.

The names of the petting zoo animals were cute though, Rabbit Downey Jr…. So good.
