The Girl You Killed by Leslie Wolfe

1.0

Giving this book 1 star because I can’t give it 0.
For a book published on October 21, 2021 by apparently a best-selling author, I found the following pieces absolutely abhorrent, racist, fatphobic and unnecessary to the plot/character development:
1. “It should have been an easy sale; it was a preforclosure, heavily discounted. But, the client, a single mother of three with a thick South American accent, had taken the longest time in real estate history to make up her mind. […] Too bad her mortgage would probably fall through; with people like her, paperwork almost always went sideways.” Classism. Racism.
2. “The interviewer, a morbidly obese woman who had given up on herself a long time ago […]” Fatphobia.
3. “The precinct stank of Mexican food […]” Racism.
I’m truly angered by these statements (which are to name just a few) and basing her character development on such disgusting, antiquated mindsets.
Thank god this book was free. I can see why it was. I will not be reading another Leslie Wolfe book. Next.
