I read this for a school book club, but was fairly disappointed. It definitely got better throughout both books the more I read in terms of thrill factor, but there were way too many loose threads. I thought the ancient evil would tie together those threads, but instead it only added more questions, and I felt no connection to a single character in the second book, even though one had the same name as me.
