The Book Woman's Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson
3.0
I enjoyed the first book in the series - learning so much about my home state.
This one was interesting and enjoyable enough, but it got to the point where I started counting the unnecessary adjectives and adverbs thrown in for "color." Pun intended.
That being said, the topics of racism and misogyny are important ones.
I will say (as I did in the review in the first book) that the racism, while horrific and pervasive, was downplayed. I'm confident the real social climate of the time was much worse than written in these pages.
