A Boy Named Rose by Gaëlle Geniller

Anyway! Beautiful, lyrical graphic novel about a young man, or possibly woman, or possibly neither, who grew up in a cabaret in intra-war Paris. When he turns eighteen, he becomes a dancer in his own right, and then navigates stardom, love and figuring out his own gender. Along the way, making friends, leaving Paris for the first time, and weirdly not falling in love despite a very intense friendship with a male patron who doesn't seem to be expecting any kind of sex out of this whole thing (I found slightly confusing? But maybe that was a thing? There's basically no mention of sex work that's not erotic dancing that stays on the stage). We also get to know his mother, a former dancer who manages the club, and some of the other dancers, all named after flowers. The whole thing is very sweet and hopeful.

I loved the art, which had a graceful-movement filled style full of lush colours and art-deco flourishes. Lots of beautiful images of Jazz-age Paris and flapper style.
