This book was so much better than the last two, and honestly, it's about time.

In the first two books, the MC was terribly erratic and rather useless. I didn't care one way or another what happened to her, she yelled a lot and she and Alex were like freaking rabbits.

This book had much more story to it, Gemma was actually doing things without other people telling her what to do, sure before when that would happen she'd complain but still do what she was told. Now when she has an idea and knows ways to help out, she tells them no and follows through with her plans. She also earns some kick-ass fighting skills.

While I enjoyed the Gemma/Laylen moments, I am really glad the love triangle has dwindled a bit, though I am still fairly certain that sexy vampire Laylen still has romantic feelings for Gemma, and she seems to not feel them as strongly. But this book isn't as focused on romance, well not entirely.

More mysteries are uncovered, and others are answered. Gemma's mom is bananas, to put things lightly. Aislin has more of a role in this book than she had before, in the other books she was just the one that transported people around and got salty at Gemma for Laylen giving her "do me" eyes. (Laylen is... just the best vampire character in any book)

More about Alex's past is uncovered and more of his human side is shown though.

I really like where this book ended, unlike where the last one ended. I am really excited for the next book and I can't wait to see how this story ends.
