The perfect sequel to The Poppy War and a perfect progression towards The Burning God. This book has stuck with me since I first read it, and trying to replicate the feelings it evoked in me singlehandedly reignited my love for reading.
R.F. Kuang delivers loss, betrayal, grief, anger, empowerment, in epic proportions in a somehow beautiful way. The politics are also incredibly interesting to me and I loved how they develop throughout The Dragon Republic compared to The Poppy War. A series built entirely around militarism and war tactics somehow changed me in unexplainable ways.
