I think this would have been rated higher if I had read it before I read People We Meet on Vacation. This book was inspiring in that the passion for writing and weaving yourself into the stories you create was so palpable it made me want to write again for the first time in like 6 years.

I saw a lot of myself in Gus’s character. I can only hope that one day I will open up enough to let myself fall again - for real. It’s so much easier to keep to yourself than to let yourself be vulnerable with the world, but it also keeps you from forming meaningful relationships.

January’s storyline of coping with the family she believed in not being the reality of the situation is something I think everyone realizes. Even our heroes are human & we have to forgive people for not being who we decided they were in our heads. That is not their responsibility.
