I enjoyed my read! Watching Hani and Ishu’s relationship develop was heartwarming despite a miscommunication plot point I did not enjoy. The romance was cute, but both girls’ family dynamics were more developed and eclipse it. This was not an issue for me as I love reading about those especially when siblings are involved. The contrast between supportive parents that put their daughter’s happiness on the forefront, and parents who have their daughter’s life designed for her and do not tolerate any deviation was interesting. This and learning about Bengali culture were my favorite things about the book.
The fake dating plan had some flaws. For example posting photos of their dates and showing some signs of affection at school but Ishu expected it to never reach her parents' ears as she is not to out to them. It doesn't but I find it unrealistic given that the community seems small. There are still some loose ends even after the epilogue for which I would have liked some form of resolution.
