I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
5.0
The most striking thing about this book to me was the way Jennette McCurdy so deftly represented her differing mindsets as she moved through life stages. The opening chunk of chapters were heart breaking to read. I don't have any hot takes about this book because I think it's simply a well written, well organized accounting of a child star's horrible home life and incredibly difficult relationship with acting and herself because of that. I empathized deeply with parts of her story. When she mentioned writing as a child I lit up because well, obviously here I was reading something she had written, a realization of that childhood impulse. And additionally she's so GOOD at it.
