No quote, I'm sorry. I am going to have to be real honest here and I really hate to say this, but I couldn't enjoy this book to the fullest.
Most of you know English is not my native language and apart from reading in English and watching movies in English, I don't come into contact with the language in my daily life.
That being said, this book was EXTREMELY difficult to get through and understand what was written. Normally when there is a word I don't recognize or understand, I can get the meaning out of the context of the rest of the sentence and worst case, I look it up, but I need to do that rarely. In this case, There were soooooo many words I never heard of before or couldn't get the meaning out of context or whatever and I had to look so many words up, that half way the story, I didn't remember anymore what I was even reading and had to go back a few phrases to know again.
I am sure, if English is your native language, this book is a delight to read, because what I did get out of the book, was extremely well written and amazing to go through. But I also have to be honest and day this was my least enjoyable read of Adam Nevill up until now, and it really pains me to say it, because I think the stories would have been brilliant, if only I could read them and understand what was written properly 😅
Still 3 stars though, because what I did get, was great and I just love Adam Nevill as a writer, and I am sure this book deserves more!
