Unladylike Rules of Attraction, Book 2 by Amita Murray

4.5

I was hooked from the very beginning of this book. The moment “the Man” turned up during the cricket game I was a goner. Lord Damian Ashton was divine. I loved his wicked and sarcastic sense of humour. And yet there was a vulnerability to him. He was also very hot and there were some deliciously spicy scenes.

Anya was a fabulously fiesty FMC. I loved that she had found her own independence of sorts in the world that was presented to her. Yet, she had her insecurities too and struggled to see why anyone would genuinely care for her. She believed that suitors were only interested in her singing and other assets.

One of the strongest aspects of the book was the diverse nature of the two main characters. Anya was the daughter of an English Earl and his Indian mistress and Lord Ashton hailed originally from Jamaica. And it was these backgrounds that led to much of the animosity they received during the novel.

The side characters were all fabulous too. Jeremy Ashton was a sweetheart and you couldn’t help but love him. The Budleigh family were completely odious and I hated the way they treated both Anya and Damian. I also really enjoyed the little snippets with Queen Charlotte and her relationship with Anya.

I was delighted to read this brilliant Regency romance. I enjoyed it so much. I can’t wait to pick up the other books in the series.
