This is a young adult novel (and Newbery winner) that is part mystery, part science fiction, as well as a story about friendship. Miranda is a 6th grader living in Manhattan in the late 1970s who receives a series of mysterious notes. The plot is captiviating with surprising twists and well-developed characters. I decided to read this because my 9 year old son was reading it and had some questions. I'm glad I did.
