The plot was good but I didn’t enjoy the fact that Ren was kept completely in the dark about the whole soul bond of the gods magic the entire book while everyone else knew but didn’t tell her bc that would make things too easy for Ren and make the ending that much more awful for Torj which I’m disappointed with him too. How can you have an MMC support and love an FMC despite his own misgivings and need to protect but hide this big secret from her and act like what was between them meant nothing and it was a mistake? Idc if it was to protect her. You can’t have a MMC wholeheartedly support and claim to love her unconditionally and then give the biggest lie to protect her for her own good? Nope.

What would’ve been more believable is if Torj had told Ren about the soul bond and despite knowing about it, then still decided to break the bond to save her. They would’ve both known the sacrifice in his decision. She would’ve disagreed and been angry and also felt betrayed. I would’ve much preferred to see them figure out that they can be stronger together by working together. Now book 2 is going to be Ren angry and hurt and learning about the soul bond too late. Torj denying his feelings to be stoic. And a potential love triangle with her lab partner the other royal —can’t remember his name.
