An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
1.0
I rarely fought so hard with myself to continue reading a book, but I guess I was ensorcelled by the tern writing, the superficial main character and the fantasies that she fulfills for the author. I'm not sure if it's the book at fault or it's the genre, I'm pretty sure that for anyone really into YA this might read differently, and if they one-star it they do that for very different reasons. But I got sick quite fast of the 17 years old painter who painted amazingly for „fair folk” for years, the superhero-in-training that the main character is. Like, give me a break.
Of course, the problem is that I started rolling my eyes quite soon into the story, and I didn't stop - but that's mainly because I want to know what the book is about for a book club. I'll be there, showing my age by rolling my eyes at people who read it and enjoyed it. If you're over 20 and you're not a woman frustrated with her life's achievements probably this book is not for you.
