I’ve only watched the count of monte cristo so that was my frame of reference.
The revenge was lacking for me. There was so much talk of revenge and the execution was not satisfying.
I simply did not care for the romance one bit and that’s saying something. The friendship between Noor and Dania might have healed something in me.
I wished Noor wasn’t a voice of reason and allowed Dania to enact her revenge to her full potential. The feminine rage seemed to cool off once we found out that of course Maz didn’t betray her and let’s leave the emperor and forget about our revenge… like miss mamas???!!
And another thing that pissed me off, the grandmother… you wretched little wench. Oh that story line pissed me off so much.

With that being said it was an engaging read and I finished it in two days. I liked that it took some things from the monte cristo story(per what I watched) but not all of it and the changes were very welcome.

In conclusion I wanted more rage and revenge.
