Danse Macabre by Julie Anne Addicott

5.0

This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s a horror-psychological thriller, not a romance, with highly graphic and disturbing themes. If you need warnings, take them seriously.

This is hands down one of the darkest books I’ve ever read. I initially put it down at 25% because I wasn’t in the right headspace, but when I picked it back up, I couldn’t stop. Danse Macabre is a masterpiece—dark, depraved, and hauntingly beautiful.

The story follows Diablo King and Killian Graves, whose toxic, obsessive, and explosive relationship is both fascinating and horrifying. If you love unhinged dynamics, this delivers. Addicott doesn’t just push boundaries; she obliterates them.

The emotional depth, trauma, and secrets woven into this story are staggering. The twist? Absolutely shocking. I also loved how Addicott explored the nature versus nurture debate—it added so much complexity.

This is the standard for DARK. Brutal, haunting, and unforgettable. If you’re brave enough, it’s a must-read.
