Rein Me In by Kayla Grosse

Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.
DNF @40%

Pros: plus sized fmc, talks about loss/grief/etc, cowboys, he falls first & I really appreciate the fmc loving her body & there was no fatphobia in the part I read up to.

Cons: Both Blake & Gavin were seriously immature, Blake is almost 30 and Gavin is 24, but they both act more like 19/20, the fact I wasn't aware that this was a reverse age gap before i started it already meant this had a point against it for me as i am not a fan of that trope at all but decided to try and ignore it to give the book a go. The way Blake only refers to her father as “daddy” was unsettling to me for a character of her age to be doing and somewhat infantilsed her in my opinion. The frankly COMICAL amount of references to cowboy hats. seriously, i think every character is wearing one in every. single. scene. I'm aware this is a Cowboy romance there is no need! The unsatisfying build up and pretty forced enemies to lovers vibe that was sooo unnecessary, they spend so little time together in the portion of the book i read that I can’t imagine there is anything more than physical attraction between them & any attempt at a emotional connection fell flat. There wasn't a single character I liked or related to and I wasn't invested in any of them enough to care or want to continue with the story. So much so I didn't even make it to a spicy scene. This just wasn't working for me unfortunately which is such a shame as there are so few plus sized romances out there I wanted to love this.
