As a fan of the Avatar Animated TV series (both TLAB and LOK) and the other Chronicles of the Avatar Books by FC Yee, I can’t deny it feels good to be back in the world. Unfortunately, this entry felt very underdeveloped and the pacing jostled between being slow as molasses and at times feeling rushed. Sometimes the fan service was appreciated, other times felt heavy handed and unnecessary. Will I keep reading every one of these that comes out? Yes. Will they be at the top of my TBR? Probably not. If they continue with Roku, I hope Randy Ribay answers some of the back story questions his novel opened up. (When and how he was discovered as the Avatar by the Fire Sages, twin dynamics- especially with one Avatar and one non-Avatar, why he didn’t go into the Avatar state when [spoiler], when he gets his dragon, and more…)
