The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan

5.0

I honestly wasn't expecting the ending that was presented. Although it seems to be theme to reveal a child of the Big Three within the last chapter of the book.

From the very beginning, I had no idea who Bianca and Nico's parent was, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be Hades, Lord of the Underworld. I suppose this is because a lot of the tales with Hades shows him as a faithful husband to Persephone, but there were the few times that he slipped from that and was lead astray by another woman. I really do hope that Nico doesn't turn out to be the child that destroys the Gods and Olympus and that Percy is able to keep the world safe from the return of Kronos and his army.

I am also upset to learn that Luke is still alive, even after falling to his certain death, simply because he's caused so much damage to the heroes, but I guess i do have a small sliver of hope in me that Luke will see the error of his ways and turn back to the side of the heroes. The only way I will be finding that out is to continue reading the series.

Again I wasn't expecting to devour this book like I had done the previous two simply because I am hesitant about reading some young adult books that concern Greek mythology, but Rick Riordan has done his research well and has been able to convey these classic tales in a way that will engage the reader. His ability to weave the tales of the heroes in a modern setting is a true form of art and being able to keep the stories alive in his own adaptation is a wonderful addition to the tales. I hope that the next stories in the series have just as much in store for me as the last two did.
