I usually love Moyes’ novels. This one fell flat for me.
The MC repeatedly made decisions that made her really unlikable only to try to recover towards the end of the book in ways that felt half baked. I wasn’t ready to forgive her though. She seemed like the kind of person who takes no accountability for hurting others. She lives in her own world and seems like the kind of person who would have to be more upset if someone told them they were upset with her. It made me hesitant to root for her.
I did really like the complicated family dynamics and eclectic old folks. I wish we had gotten more POV chapters dispersed throughout, they felt sort of random.
