This is a standalone Cinderella reimagining the Murder & Mayhem world created by the authors. Tropes and themes include why choose (mmfmm), omegaverse, scent matches, fairytale retelling, finding freedom, and age gap. There is a fair amount of spice (mm, MF and group) and dark topics (violence, kidnapping) so please review the content warnings.
The Lovely: I loved the FMC, Nadia. Despite everything, she has persevered and her growth as a person was nice to read. I also adored her bestie, Sasha, who had some of the funniest moments in the book. Like, dang girl.
The Mundane: The story is fast-paced, especially for it’s length. But despite the number of pages we learn very little about the alphas and beta in the pack. So little that I struggled to keep them separate in my mind - there just wasn’t enough to differentiate them from each other. This also meant I never really connected or became invested in the pack, which is usually one of my favorite parts of Omegaverse stories.
Rating: 3/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Recommendation: This is a standalone in a shared world so it was nice to get a complete story (with a HEA). This was a fairly quick read given the fast pacing. All that said, the lack of differentiation between the pack members made it challenging for me to be engaged. If you want a fast paced Omegaverse standalone with fun female characters, I think you would like this book.
