Tried this novel a few times. I generally like YA if I know it’s YA going in. So far this reads very middle grade with OTT interpersonal dramas and starry eyed romances. It was hard to believe these characters are in high school, they feel more middle (10-14 ish). 

If may evolve or make sense later in the book but for now it’s too cringey for me. Like how older people imagine LA and influencer culture to be + quiet revenge that feels a bit author intrusion? 

But since I DNF I may be really wrong and it makes sense later in the story.
