Trust by Hernán Díaz

5.0

This is going to be on my list of best books of the year. Maybe at the top; right now, having just finished it, I can't imagine what could top it.

I don't know quite what to make of it, and I love that. I'm looking forward to reading some critics' reviews, and eventually coming back to re-read it.

I highlighted so many sentences in the final section. Just gorgeous writing, and it made me wish I could know the character who expressed them.

And I just love the play on words of the title. Trust: reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. Trust: dependence on something future or contingent. Trust: a property interest held by one person for the benefit of another. Trust: a charge or duty imposed in faith or confidence or as a condition of some relationship. (All defs from Merriam-Webster)

Loved!
