The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
5.0
trigger warnings for rape, murder, suicide, pregnancy issues, and implied sexual assault.
As soon as I started reading this book it felt like an uprising. Our main character, Tierney, will not concede to being treated like cattle. It feels very much like The Hunger Games but with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo writing style and intricacy. I was super pulled into the story and rooted for Tierney and her fighting spirit so much. When I finished the book I couldn't help but feel so empowered and inspired to the point where I put on an outfit for the day I wouldn't normally have the confidence to wear! After this book I truly felt like no-one could knock me down.
This IS a feminist book but presented in a way where it wasn't shoved down your throat. It teaches how small acts of kindness can truly go a long way :D
