Goodness. This novella really got to the heart of me. Knowing from page one that this story is going to end in tragedy made it difficult to truly let go and enjoy the love Igor had found. Throughout SINS, we see Igor as a monster, but also the way he treated Barrett like a queen and her confusing feelings for him. This story makes him a more sympathetic character in that we understand how he ended up the monster he came to be. It's tragic to consider the man he could have been had Marybeth and their unborn child not been murdered.
