I liked this book so much more upon reread! It's definitely not the best by any means but I was still entertained. The pacing is very fast where it's fast and slow where it's slow. There are a lot of info dumps and the prose just alternates between long stretches of dialogue and long stretches of description. All characters were bland except for Murtagh and Solembum. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the series much more compared to my first time reading this.

I had such a hard time liking this book when I first read it. The prose just drones on and on and on and one with description after description after description. I liked the story overall but did we really need a million pages to tell it? Probably not. Anyway, I've heard the rest of the series gets better so I will be rereading this soon as well as the next books. Hopefully, as an older reader, I'll be able to appreciate it more the second time.
