American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

5.0

finally reading my first Bret Ellis after listening to his podcast a bit and liking it a lot. this is the one they had at my library and it wasn't the one I was most excited to read but ended up being way better than I expected. somehow so consistently addicting, funny, fucked up and fun despite being repetitive, on some Trailer Park Boys or It's Always Sunny type shit in that way. but also even though it doesn't come close to American Pastoral in terms of complexity, it still hits on the same general theme of this sort of "indigenous American berserk" that Roth was writing about and honestly it's kind of crazy to me that this came out before American Pastoral
