Really loved this book so much. It was so interesting to read a century long history that included so many events that I learned about in school from the perspective of another country, and learn about so much that was not covered at all when I was in school. This hit right in the "slow moving character study" category that I really enjoy. Bookending her life with the two pandemics left me feeling so contemplative about similarities and differences between 1919 and 2019, and more generally what it could possibly be like to live through so much upheaval and change. I found the characters really interesting and cared about all of them an almost surprising amount. Great read.
