Do the Work by Steven Pressfield

I get why people hate this book. And I get why I love it.
There is a gap left where some of the stellar wisdom land on people like a bad motivational speech I think because they miss that the idea of “just do it” isn’t a meaningless cliche but the wise creed from professionals to those who want to have it all figured out before they do anything - there could be more on rewriting for sure to balance out the crap-draft stuff. Also seems like there are certain tools to hand writers so that they can keep writing when stuck like a simple question to switch the brain into the right mode like “if you don’t know what’s next and can’t pull your mind out of review mode just start writing about how your character gets a box in the mail and there is a wrench inside with a note that says …” - you can write that and vibe and of course you’ll toss it but now your moving and that movement shakes the ideas off the wall a bit and things come more easily.
There is great help here but also some holes and so I’ll aim to return to this book when I’m against the wall and frustrated and we’ll see if that pushes me onto the side of hating this or if it proves my review today true.
