Evocation by S.T. Gibson
dark
tense
4.0
Evocation is complicated and messy, but at it's heart it is about a man who wants to be loved.
When I started this, I didn't immediately warm to David or Rhys's character. It wasn't until Moira was introduced as a POV character that I began to actually care about them properly. It was like the layers of old pain, and arrogance were sanded back each chapter. S.T. Gibson has a true gift for writing complicated characters, and with that, complicated relationships.
The mood of the writing was tense, and fast-paced. Every new thing we learned made the whole story even more addictive!
I am incredibly curious, and excited, to see what David, Moira and Rhys do next.
Thank you to Angry Robot, and the author, for a physical ARC of Evocation!
