though i’ve seen the movie many times, i’d never read the book it was adapted from. my sixth graders are reading it for class, so i decided to finally give it a try. i loved it. there are a couple moments i think were handled better in the movie (for example, the origin of stanley’s nickname), but overall the book and movie are nearly identical. and now i really want to watch the movie again.
