The Ocean at the End of the Lane was actually recommended to me, & while it may not be what I usually grab for- I was still pleasantly surprised! 

This was a short fantasy horror novel with notes of psychological trauma, all narrated from a man’s inner child. It was an interesting read, where you’re traveling through the narrator’s memories- as he rediscovers himself & his underlining traumas that he’s forgotten. Gaiman’s book gives you a glimpse into the mind of a child, full of imagination & hope- whilst taking on personal demons, & confronting loss. 

There’s a lot not stated in the book, but can be inferred. I like how it left things open to interpretation. Interesting combination of whimsy & psychological horror! Definitely a unique read, and what a ride! I wasn’t expecting to be in my feels at the end of the book. I never read much from this author, but I may have to check out more of his work after reading this one!
