Disney Frozen 2: The Manga by Arina Tanemura
4.0
THE ARTWORK IS BEYOND BEAUTIFUL. Tanemura Arina always has a specially-reserved spot in my heart, be it for her fantastic artwork since Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and her heartwrenching, sometimes questionably sad, storyline and characters' inner drama. That's why when I heard she was entrusted with this job, making a manga adaptation out of Frozen II, I KNEW I have to have it and read it.
And her artwork never disappoints. Elsa, in Arina's imagery, is STUNNING. And I love how she draws Kristoff with his reindeer-like nose and bulky frame and everything instead of making him fit more into the usual slender frame of handsome boys often found in her works. The illustration alone is worth a five-star review.
But then again, the storyline. My only problem with this book is that it ACTUALLY FEELS like a manga adaptation of something else. It doesn't really cut it as a standalone work because many places feel so vague or rushed. As a reader, I feel like I have to know the story of Frozen II BEFORE I open this book so I can understand what's going on.
So yeah.
At the end of the day, a four-star review.
But seriously, though, Elsa here is GORGEOUS in all capital.
